Owning a hot tub isn’t just about soothing muscle injury on one end of the spectrum, or throwing grand parties on the other. You can also use your hot tub for some simple daily relaxation, neither medically oriented or lavishly expensive. But before you get to the You Time you so deserve, you need to remember a few things.
There is nothing so disappointing as wanting to take a long soak and realizing you’ve forgotten to set the temperature on the hot tub. Most tubs take around half an hour to heat up, so turn yours on ahead of time so it will be ready when you are. Once you become familiar with your hot tub, you’ll know what temperature you like best and how long it takes to get there, so you can be even more precise. Lots of tubs even have timers so they will warm up at a certain time of day without help from you.
Nothing says “spa” like jets. They can provide a massage for sore limbs and backs or simply the frothiness that makes you think of good times. Learn the settings when you get your tub so that you can set them easily when you’re ready to get in. Remember that you should never add soap or bubble bath to a hot tub.
Few people disagree that music adds to relaxation. Whether you fancy a calming spa mix of the Enya ilk or upbeat 80s dance music to signal that the good times are on, set your station to reflect your mood. Radios and online stations alike offer presets, so program a few in ahead of time to avoid having to search for what you want when it’s time to enjoy yourself.
When you’re done, don’t forget to turn off the temperature on your hot tub to save money on power bills. Most hot tubs will stay fairly warm if you remember to keep the cover on, so replace hot tub covers promptly when you get out. Make sure it is firmly set on top of the hot tub with the skirt in place, otherwise the heat might leak out.
With those tips in mind, it won’t be hard to get into the daily habit of tubbing.
Happy Tubbing!
