HOT TUB COVERS & SPA COVERS: VINYL CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Whether shopping for new hot tub covers or trying to extend the life of your current hot tub covers, this guide will provide a wealth of information and some basic maintenance tips to save you time and money.
Hot tub covers are made with a backed fabric with an outer layer made from polyvinyl chloride (PVC). When it is made, it is sealed with a top coat containing plasticizers and softening agents to keep it supple and to enhance the appearance of hot tub covers.
The key to maintaining the new look of hot tub covers is to protect as much as possible against UV (sun) damage. All man made materials are UV sensitive, like our skin. Even the special vinyl used in hot tub covers, marine grade, can suffer eventually from the sun.
What To Do
We researched the available products and believe we offer the best for maintaining hot tub covers. Heck, the bottle even has a hot tub cover on it's label! It is the best product of its kind and will block up to 100% of the harmful UV rays with regular use. The liquid itself is Eco-Friendly and non-toxic. It will preserve your hot tub covers vinyl MUCH longer than using nothing at all. It is the world's most manufacturer recommended product. It has the following properties:
- Water repellant finish
- Resistant to dust, soiling, body oils and staining
- Resistant to atmospheric contaminants
- Enduring cosmetic properties
Be careful of some of the vinyl treatment products out there with your hot tub covers. A well known, name brand, automotive vinyl treatment contains silicone oil which will cause problems with hot tub cover vinyl. Avoid any product that has any type of oil (which will feel greasy), petroleum distillates or that leave a coating when dry. Products with petroleum distillates usually have warnings on their label cautioning the user about the products flamability. These will actually accelerate the decay of the hot tub covers vinyl. These products have NO UV protection and even magnify the affects of the UV rays instead of blocking them.
Reapplication: For maximum UV Protection and repellency, reapply to hot tub covers every 6-8 weeks.
DIRECTIONS: Use only on cleaned surfaces. Before applying 303 Protectant, clean soiled items thoroughly according to manufacturer directions. Place a drop cloth under the item to be treated to catch any over-spray. Spray on 303 Protectant, then wipe COMPLETELY dry with a clean, dry, absorbent cloth. NOTE: This product does NOT air dry. Use a second dry cloth to finish the application process. Extra buffing with a dry cloth INCREASES bonding, repellency AND longevity.
